Tooth Fillings
Our office offers composite or tooth colored fillings. “White” or bonded fillings have replaced the older “silver” or amalgam fillings. A composite filling is a tooth colored restoration placed on a tooth to restore its function and appearance. Composite is made of a resin bonded material. There are many reasons why a composite filling may need to be done including decay, chipping, wear, abfraction, fractures, erosion, cracks, etc. The affected portion of the tooth is removed and then filled with a composite filling.
Tooth Colored Restorations create fillings that are not only beautiful (or unnoticeable) but also add strength to weakened teeth. These restorations are esthetically pleasing and very strong thanks to new bonding technologies. Composite restorations if cared for properly will last for many years, but as with most dental restorations composite fillings are not permanent and may eventually need to be replaced.
